My daughter, Sophie, is six years old. My husband is always working — sometimes from home, but mostly from the office. I also decided to go back to work, and that was when I realized we needed a nanny. Sophie had just started first grade, and I knew she needed a lot of attention.
My husband and I searched for a nanny for a long time until we finally found one. Her name was Laura. She seemed like a very kind woman and was always smiling. She helped Sophie with her homework and also helped around the house. Laura worked for us for almost a year, and Sophie loved her very much.
One evening, when I came home exhausted, I saw Sophie sitting alone, doing her homework by herself. When I asked why Laura wasn’t helping her, my daughter sighed, lowered her head, and said:
