My Husband Hit Our Dog, Thinking He Was Attacking Me… But Seconds Later, Something Happened That Would Cost Our Dog His Life 🥹💔
PART 1
That day, I was home alone.
I was eight months pregnant, and the doctor had strictly told me not to move around too much. My husband, Mark, had gone to the pharmacy, and I was sitting in the living room, gently rubbing my belly.
Our German Shepherd, Rex, had been acting strangely all day.
He wouldn’t sleep.
He wouldn’t eat.
He only stood in front of the sofa, sniffing the floor and growling quietly.
“Rex, what’s there?” I whispered.
Suddenly, he turned toward me.
And started barking.
Loud.
Fierce.
Directly at my face.
I pulled back in fear, but he came even closer. His mouth opened and closed with every bark, his eyes wide, his body tense.
I thought my dog had gone mad.
“Rex, stop… please…”
At that moment, the door suddenly opened.
Mark walked in and froze.
He saw only me lying on the floor, my hand on my belly, and Rex standing in front of me, barking.
“Get away from her!” he shouted.
Rex didn’t move away.
Instead, he barked even louder.
In panic, Mark grabbed the floor mop and struck Rex on the head with all his strength.
The dog went silent for a moment.
But he didn’t run away.
He stood there trembling, his eyes still fixed on the space under the sofa.
I barely whispered:
“Mark… he wasn’t looking at me… he was looking there…”
And right then, a faint hiss came from under the sofa.
Mark slowly turned around.
All the color drained from his face.
The mop slipped from his hand and fell to the floor.
“Oh my God…” he whispered.
I tried to get up, but Rex, with the last of his strength, stood in front of me again, as if he was still trying to protect me.
Then something began to crawl out from under the sofa…
And what we saw in the next second became fatal for our dog…
The continuation is in the first comment 👇😱
PART 2
Mark slowly knelt down and looked under the sofa.
The next second, a snake raised its head from the darkness.
I froze.
It was only a few inches away from the place where my hand had been moments earlier.
“Rex… was saving you,” Mark whispered in horror.
Rex gave a weak bark.
He tried to stand in front of us again, but his legs trembled and gave out.
He fell to the floor.
“Rex, no!” I screamed.
I crawled toward him and saw the small mark near his neck.
The snake had already bitten him.
While we understood nothing, Rex had been fighting through pain for us. He had been barking at me so I wouldn’t move. He had been frightening me to save my life.
Mark held the dog’s head in his hands.
“Forgive me… I didn’t understand…” he said, crying.
Rex barely opened his eyes.
He looked at me.
Then at my belly.
His gaze felt like a goodbye to my baby, whom he had never met, but had already saved.
A few seconds later, his head grew heavy in Mark’s hands.
Rex no longer moved.
That day, we lost our dog.
But with his final breath, he saved me… and our unborn baby.
